# Documents

> Upload, forward, and search your own files, then research across them.

**Documents** is your library. It holds the files you upload, the emails you forward, and content from your organization's [connected sources](https://docs.kepler.ai/connectors/overview.md). Kepler cites your documents the same way it cites a filing.

## Find your files

Click **Documents** in the sidebar. The list on the left shows **All**, then each connected source, then **Uploads** and **Emails**.

* Search by file name or by text inside the file.
* Sort by newest, oldest, or name.
* In a connected source, browse its folders as they are in that source.

## Upload files

On the **Uploads** tab, click **Add files**, or drag files onto the page.

* **File types:** PDF, Word (.docx), Excel (.xlsx, .xlsm, .csv), PowerPoint (.pptx, .pptm, .ppsx, .ppsm, .ppt, .pps), and text (.txt, .md).
* **Size:** up to 200 MB per file, and up to 20 files at a time.

## Forward an email

On the **Emails** tab, find **Add an email to Kepler** and click the address to copy it. Forward any email to that address. The email shows up on the **Emails** tab with its attachments, ready to use in a chat.

## Start a chat from your files

Select one or more files, then click **New chat** and ask your question about them.

You can also add files to a chat you already have. See [Add your own files](https://docs.kepler.ai/app/chats.md#add-your-own-files).

## Delete a file

Click **Delete** on the file and confirm. This permanently removes the file from Kepler and cannot be undone.
